BREEAM Domestic Refurbishment is a new version of BREEAM, recently launched by the BRE, which is aimed at improving the sustainability and environmental performance of existing residential buildings.

The methodology can be applied to projects such as:

• The extension and refurbishment of domestic properties.
• The conversion of existing housing into flats and
• The conversion of non-residential buildings into residential use.

The assessment also covers a range of sustainability issues including water usage, energy consumption, green materials, waste, recycling and pollution.
