We are delighted that our Heronwood project has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Sustainable Smaller Housing Retrofit Project of the Year (fewer than 25 homes) category of the 2014 Sustainable Housing Awards.
Rund Partnership Limited was appointed by First Wessex to provide an energy assessment on the refurbishment of 20 flats across three low rise blocks in Aldershot, Hampshire. The flats had solid external walls which were uninsulated. Our Surveyors carried out full SAP Calculations on each flat in order to determine the current energy rating. In addition we coordinated air pressure testing and infrared thermal imaging surveys in order to provide an overall assessment of the actual performance of the homes. In order to improve the flats to the client’s target SAP rating of ‘B’, we provided energy modelling for various packages of improvements to meet the required rating including:
- Solid wall insulation
- Replacement boilers
- Photovoltaic panels
- Improved ventilation
In addition, to assist with obtaining Energy Company Obligation (ECO) funding, we calculated the lifetime carbon savings for all the eligible energy efficiency measures using the OFGEM approved methodology.
This nomination is a great achievement for everyone involved in the project and we look forward to hearing the results on Friday 17 October.
