Rund is supporting Grainger plc and its for-profit registered provider, Grainger Trust with Project Management, Employer’s Agent and Clerk of Works services at Berewood – a multi-phase, multi-million-pound project in Hampshire.
Project Background
The scheme has so far delivered 973 homes to date across eight phases, six of which are fully complete.
Consisting of 500 acres of land in total including 250 acres of green space, Berewood involves the creation of approximately 2,650 homes, two primary schools, community and sports facilities including a new cricket pavilion, health centre, and children’s play areas. 40% of housing will be affordable and delivered by Grainger Trust, with a 50/50 split of shared ownership and affordable rented properties.
Berewood is in the process of being certified as nitrate neutral, overcoming a significant issue in the Solent region as multiple other projects have been put on hold due to their developments containing compromising levels of nitrates in soils. To meet the detailed criteria set out by Natural England to achieve nitrate neutrality, extensive work has been done at Berewood to ensure all wastewater flows to an upgraded water treatment works using a minimal amount of nitrate in its processes.
The Solution
We are contributing our wealth of expertise as dedicated Project Manager, Employer’s Agent and Clerk of Works on the project, with our scope of work including overseeing the nitrate neutrality assessments that have taken place and liaison with developers on site to manage environmental concerns. We have also been implementing thorough quality management, including initiating Fire Stopping inspections as part of our Clerk of Works service.
