Rund was appointed as Employer’s Agent by the Bournemouth War Memorial Homes charity to provide additional high-quality accommodation on its existing site at Castle Lane West in Bournemouth, designed for ex-service personnel.
Project Background
Bournemouth War Memorial Homes, which was first founded in 1948, provides one, two and three bedroom homes at a discounted rate to ex-service veterans in need and their families. Rund was involved in the creation of five two-bedroom bungalows at the site, which is based near the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
The Solution

Each home was constructed with contemporary detailing, with vaulted ceilings to create a light, welcoming space. Residents could also have convenient access to communal gardens, designed to foster a sense of community, and encourage social interactions.

Our skilled Employer’s Agents managed the building contracts from inception through to completion. We monitored costs, programmes, and quality on site, working closely with the client at all stages to ensure all specifications were being followed to exacting standards.

The homes now form part of the charity’s portfolio of 56 self-contained flats and houses, benefitting ex-service personnel from the Royal Navy, the Royal Air Force, the Army and the Merchant Navy. Each home has been funded by donations and grants from organisations including the Army Benevolent Fund, Queen Mary’s Roehampton Trust and the Talbot Village Trust.
