Origin Housing appointed Rund as Employer’s Agent, Environmental & Energy Assessor and Party Wall Surveyor on its Finchley Road project in New Barnet, London.
Project Background
The project involved the creation of a 7-storey residential building comprising of 31 apartments, a retail unit and a car park. Catering to a wide range of residential needs, the building was designed to offer affordable rented, shared ownership and private ownership housing.
The project included a number of challenges, including site decontamination after formally being used as a petrol-filling station. We helped overcome this by overseeing extensive ground investigations to determine conditions and mitigate any risks, resulting in the remediation of the site. Various negotiations and agreements with neighbouring parties were also put in place, as the building took up a large space across a triangular-shaped site.
The Solution
Our scope of service also included undertaking a competitive tender process and robust tender analysis and reporting procedure before procurement took place. In addition, we agreed scaffolding and access licenses, and managed party wall agreements with neighbouring developments.
Our Chartered Quantity Surveyors took a collaborative approach with other on site parties, working closely with the design team and contractor to identify high value engineering solutions. This ultimately helped minimise costs and maximise return on investment for Origin Housing.
