Gateway is a well-established community-based housing association with 3,000 properties, primarily in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. They are the largest Sheltered Housing provider in the borough and are proud to offer a range of new build properties for leasehold, shared ownership and direct sale, which are low-density and high-quality.
As Clerk of Works, Rund has been supporting Gateway across a range of recent projects nearing 300 new homes across the Tower Hamlets, Newham, and Romford areas, including:
- Dod Street (s106 scheme comprising 27 new homes) – 10 shared ownership and 17 affordable rent units within a wider development, on the site of a former office building.
- Bow Green (82 new homes) – regenerative development of a former gasworks site with 35% of the homes designated as affordable rent.
- Angel Way & North Street (s106 scheme comprising 51 new homes) – 26 shared ownership and 25 affordable rent units within a wider development.
- Broadway East (s106 scheme comprising 84 new homes) – regenerative development of a former gasworks site, forming part of a wider development.
- Barking Road (20 new homes) – mixed-use development enhancing disused site by replacing former commercial units.
- Regency Court (32 new homes) – redevelopment of an existing Gateway property to provide new homes for shared ownership.
As Clerk of Works, Rund has played a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of Gateway’s developments across Tower Hamlets, Newham, and Romford. Our expertise in quality monitoring, compliance, and risk mitigation has supported Gateway in achieving high standards across nearly 300 of their new homes.
Our involvement has spanned all stages of construction, from early design reviews to final handovers. We have worked closely with Gateway’s professional team, including the relevant Employer’s Agent, contractors, and consultants, to ensure all developments align with the Employer’s Development Brief, Section 106 obligations, and the Greater London Authority’s latest Funding Design and Sustainability Standards.
By leveraging our experience across multiple Gateway schemes, we have developed a deep understanding of their quality expectations, project requirements, and regulatory considerations. This knowledge has enabled us to anticipate potential challenges and proactively address them, ensuring compliance with planning, building control, and NHBC standards.
Many of the developments we are supporting are transforming vacant and underused sites, such as former gasworks and disused commercial plots, into vibrant residential communities. By ensuring high construction quality and compliance, we have helped Gateway unlock much-needed housing while enhancing the urban landscape of the surrounding areas. Our role has been vital in overseeing the regeneration of these spaces, ensuring they provide safe, sustainable, and high-quality homes that benefit both residents and the wider community.
