Notting Hill Genesis (formally Notting Hill Housing) commissioned Rund for Clerk of Works services on Royal Albert Wharf, an award-winning, extensive housing development which has been identified as the capital’s next business district.
Project Background
Located in the Royal Albert Basin, the project involves the regeneration of London’s historic Royal Docks area. Over 1,800 new homes are being developed over the coming years, creating a vibrant, thriving, and sustainable community within a historic riverside setting. 8,700sqm of new commercial, retail, leisure and community space will be created, alongside improvements to public transport, pedestrian routes, and cycle ways.
We were involved as Clerk of Works on phase 3 of the project, involving the creation of 227 affordable units. Tenures were split between 135 affordable rent and 92 shared ownership homes. Each unit was carefully designed to align with the wider development’s eclectic mix of both traditional and contemporary architecture, creating an attractive, dynamic environment.
The Solution
Our experienced Clerk of Works team ensured every element of the project followed only the highest standards of quality in construction. We carried out robust site inspections, putting strict quality monitoring measures in place to cover every intricate detail of the build process. We also carried out Fire Stopping inspections and a dedicated snagging service to guarantee high-quality product delivery on completion.
Royal Albert Wharf has been named ‘Resident Project of the Year’ (London category) at the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Awards and claimed a prestigious Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) award (London category).
