Quantity Surveyor

Our sectors of operation include residential, commercial, arts & leisure, and education - with residential developments being our primary area of focus.

requirements
The right individual will have:
  • Proficiency in CostX and/or other quantity surveying software and tools
  • You will have experience in producing elemental cost plans at all design stages for residential projects.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in quantity surveying.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Professional accreditation (e.g., MRICS, MCIOB) or working towards
  • Working knowledge of construction costs, contracts, and procurement processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Confidence at client meetings
  • A full, clean driving license (desirable)
Job summary

No two days will be the same for our Quantity Surveyors, but your general responsibilities will include: 

Cost Management:

  • Lead all aspects of quantity surveying service on the projects. 
  • Prepare Order of Cost Estimates and Elemental Cost Plans for construction projects.
  • Cost planning using your expertise in CostX.
  • Monitoring and controlling cost through the RIBA design stages and will proactively engage with specialists and the market in order to test. 

Tendering and Procurement:

  • Develop and manage the tendering process, including preparing tender documentation and evaluating bids.
  • Liaise with contractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotes and ensure best value for money.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a comprehensive procurement database and records of all tendering activities.


Contract Administration:

  • Administer contracts and manage contractual relationships with clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Prepare and review contract documents, including terms and conditions, specifications, and drawings.


Client Liaison:

  • Act as a point of contact for clients, providing regular updates and addressing concerns.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and ensuring satisfaction.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports to clients, highlighting project status, financial performance, and risks.


Risk Management:

  • Produce detailed costed risk registers for your projects calculating risk in line with NRM1 requirements. 


Compliance and Standards:

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in construction laws, regulations, and market conditions.
