After 33 years of service, today all of us at Rund wish Zen Flis a happy retirement, after contributing to the growth of our business for over three decades. During his tenure, the company has consistently delivered top services for clients, growing from a team of only four to a team of over 70 with three offices across England. Zen has an excellent record of accomplishment for providing guidance and encouragement to those around him, allowing so many other co-workers to thrive in a very challenging and skilled profession.
Richard Mussell, Managing Director at Rund comments: “Zen has not only contributed 33 years of outstanding service to our clients, but has also been an integral part of the growth of the business, which has gone from four people when Zen first joined, to a team of over 70.
“I myself have had the pleasure of working with Zen for 17.5 years, and still remember meeting him on my very first day. For those of us that know Zen personally, admire him not only for his skills and talent as a Building Surveyor, but also for his values and dedication to being the best role model to those around him, and an inspiration to the young staff here at Rund, who he so often trained and imparted valuable knowledge to. Zen will be missed greatly, but we wish him a long and happy retirement.”
Zen joined Rund in 1988, at a time when the business was in its infancy after working at Portsmouth City Council and Portsmouth Housing Association. A skilled Building Surveyor, Zen is known to all of us at Rund as someone we could all rely on, and who enjoyed working most, when at the coalface of a project.
Zen Flis comments: “I have spent the majority of my adult life, doing the job I love, for a company that has grown, together with me. I have been given so many opportunities to learn whilst being at Rund, which made working here really special for me. They say when you enjoy what you do, work becomes play, and that’s how it has been for me working at Rund for all this time.”
“The company is in a phase of evolution with new offices opening, and it is the perfect time based on how intricate buildings are now becoming. A lot has changed in the construction industry from when I first started my career, and it is my view that the demand for services offered by Rund is only going to continue to increase with ever changing building regulations, and the increasing complexity of buildings and spaces.
“I hope more young people are encouraged to enter into a skilled profession – and see the value of working at a specialist construction consultancy. If my 33 years are anything to go by, it’s that Rund Limited is a great place to prosper, develop and play a huge part in supporting our clients, and the sector as a whole to succeed.”
