Promotions Highlight – Assistant Career Journeys

At Rund, we see our Graduate Pathway as the beginning of an exciting journey - one that helps early-career professionals thrive and reach their potential.

We are proud to see the next generation of surveyors developing into confident professionals through hands-on experience, dedicated mentorship, and collaborative support across all Rund offices.

Bleu Jones and Jack Vitrotti, two of our recently promoted team members, demonstrate the impact and value of our Graduate Pathway. We spoke to each of them to reflect on their career journeys and how the framework of the pathway has supported them in achieving their goals.

Bleu Jones – promoted from Graduate Surveyor to Assistant Surveyor
For Bleu, the journey into surveying has been one of exciting challenge and continuous growth. While studying for his MSc in Quantity Surveying (QS) at UCEM, Bleu has simultaneously been gaining real-world experience with Rund – an approach that has benefitted both his academic understanding and professional capability.

"Being able to apply what I’m learning at university directly to my work has been invaluable. From coursework to site walks, the overlap has helped me make real progress - and having colleagues who’ve been through the same path makes it even easier to learn.”

Since joining Rund, Bleu has benefited from exposure to a diverse range of projects across the South, progressing from shadowing our Clerk of Works team to managing projects as an Employer’s Agent. With the support of our experienced Quantity Surveyors, he is now beginning to take on QS responsibilities himself.

Reflecting on the Graduate Pathway, Bleu has highlighted the strong sense of support from colleagues.

“It’s helped me track my goals and collaborate with others on a similar journey. A huge thank you to Will Ashton, Lizzie Sim, and Yolanda Buxey for their mentorship along the way.”

Jack Vitrotti – promoted from Graduate Surveyor to Assistant Surveyor
Jack’s career journey has taken a less traditional route into surveying. After graduating in Business Management in 2019 from the University of Roehampton, he spent time working as an estate agent, in property management overseas, and later in recruitment. Ultimately, it was Jack’s keen interest in developing an understanding of the built environment, beyond just the end-product, that drew him to construction.

“Working in property gave me a strong interest in how buildings are created, not just sold. I wanted to be part of the process - to understand the full lifecycle of development. Construction is essential to the economy and knowing I’m contributing to something meaningful is incredibly satisfying."

Since joining Rund, Jack has started an MSc in Quantity Surveying and is already gaining the experience needed to pursue chartership. He has credited Rund’s Graduate Pathway as a key motivator.

“Meeting other graduates across the business helps us all feel connected. It’s a space where we can share what’s working, talk through challenges, and keep each other motivated.”

Both Bleu and Jack demonstrate the varied paths into surveying and the importance of structured support in developing new talent. Their promotion to Assistant Surveyor marks an exciting milestone - not just for them, but for Rund’s commitment to nurturing career growth from day one.

Whether through formal mentoring, practical project exposure, or colleague collaboration, our Graduate Pathway continues to pave the way for success.

Congratulations to both Bleu and Jack on your promotions – we look forward to supporting you both in the next stage of your careers.
