Starlight Investments appoints surveying and construction consultancy Rund as Clerk of Works on three major Build to Rent schemes.

Specialist surveying and construction consultancy Rund has been appointed to support Canadian investor, Starlight Investments, acting as Clerk of Works on three significant Build to Rent schemes at Liverpool Waters in Liverpool, Michigan Avenue in Manchester, and Victoria Road in Ashford, Kent.

Rund’s Clerk of Works team will provide Quality, Fire and M&E inspections – including commissioning and testing – on the Build to Rent projects from January 2024. Its experts will be on site weekly delivering Quality inspections along with monthly visits for Fire and M&E inspections from Autumn 2024.

“This is an exciting partnership with Starlight Investments who are committed to providing high quality Build to Rent schemes in major cities across the UK and the London commuter belt. Demand for Build to Rent schemes remains high in the UK and we’re looking forward to bringing our experience and Clerk of Work skills to what will be three very significant schemes.” Phil Smith, Director, Rund.

The Liverpool Waters Build to Rent scheme is located on the northern docks of the city. The scheme is set to transform the historic docklands site with a world class, high-quality, mixed-use waterfront.

The 31-storey development – designed by Falconer Chester Hall – will deliver 278 new homes in a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. Developer X1 Developments and Starlight Investments celebrated the official ground-breaking ceremony earlier this year.

The Liverpool Waters scheme is being delivered in partnership with main contractor Vermont Construction and Peel Waters. It is set to complete next year.

The Michigan Avenue Build to Rent scheme will deliver 391 new homes to Manchester in a mix of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and town houses. Works started on site in March 2023 and the development is scheduled to complete in 2026.

Developed by King Crescent Homes, the Victoria Road Build to Rent scheme will deliver 254 new homes in a mix of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom modern apartments. The scheme is also scheduled to complete in 2026.
