Our expert Building Surveyors provided a tailored service for each bespoke teaching room, carrying out condition surveys to assess the extent of upgrade works required across the portfolio. We ensured that the rooms were grouped in order of priority, with these aspects of works packaged up into smaller contracts to allow the works to be carried out as efficiently as possible. Our Quantity Surveyors also produced two programmes which set out refurbishment recommendations of the LSE portfolio for both a 10-year and 20-year refurbishment plan, with the aim of upgrading each room into a modern, fit-for-purpose teaching space.
Our Quantity Surveyors provided cost recommendations for the programmes, in addition to a complete cost analysis for upgrading the portfolio in line with LSE’s requirements. Separate refurbishment projects for these upgrade works were then commissioned, including the Tower 2 refurbishment works.
A key challenge was working around the ‘live’ nature of each building at LSE, as teaching sessions were still taking place during the works period. We followed a strict timing programme which ensured as little disruption as possible, with major construction works taking place out of hours.
