Bay House School

Bay House School invested in Rund’s expertise across multiple services to transform a dilapidated asbestos clad sports hall into a refreshed, modern building for school and community use.

Project Background

The project involved the creation of a large multi-use sports hall, complete with a gymnasium with ancillary changing rooms and showers, as well as additional space for a fitness suite and dance studio.

Rund was appointed as Project Manager, Quantity Surveyor, Employer’s Agent and CDM Coordinator. Our scope of work included holding pre-contract discussions with the school and its design team to establish the principles and protocol for the tender process. We also compiled all tender and contract documents, carried out weekly site inspections and valuations, attended monthly meetings and provided budget advice.

The Solution

Our broad range of services at Bay House School allowed us to have a holistic management approach, so we could oversee multiple elements of the project and ensure all work was completed to a high standard of quality in construction.

We assisted Bay House School in overcoming several challenges throughout the project. This included facilitating a seamless changeover in contractors to ensure a quick project restart, after the site’s original contractor unexpectedly fell into administration. The site was also previously a recycling centre, so we undertook extensive ground consolidation to improve the land before construction began.

Following two years of work, Bay House School now offers a state-of-the-art sports hall and facilities to pupils and members of the community.
