Rund is set to assist Abri (formally Radian and Yarlington Group) in expanding its development portfolio in Bristol, as we celebrate a new appointment as Employer’s Agent, Clerk of Works, and Principal Designer at The Old Brewery.
The 100% affordable housing development is being delivered by Abri, with McLaughlin & Harvey working as project contractor. The scheme involves the creation of 107 new homes, comprising a mix of one, two and three bedroom apartments and three bedroom houses – all split between shared ownership and affordable rent tenure. Seven commercial units will also be created, with additional works taking place to retain existing historical buildings on site. Various establishments, including the Brewery Manager’s House, will also be rebuilt.
Our role will be instrumental in ensuring all new buildings are built to the highest quality standards and complement the rich heritage and design of the site’s existing architecture. We will be involved in a broad scope of work, including managing contracts between Abri and McLaughlin & Harvey, implementing thorough quality control procedures, and ensuring all works adhere to strict health and safety requirements.
The scheme forms part of a burgeoning development market in one of the UK’s most desirable regional centres for property investment. In addition to its vibrant cultural scene, Bristol is home to one of the top ten UK universities in official league tables, as well as many high-net-worth industries which contribute to its thriving economy.
Dan Hall, Senior Surveyor at Rund Partnership commented: “According to Rightmove, Bristol’s average asking prices have increased by 60% over the past decade and Savills forecasts a rise of 20.5% between 2021 and 2024.
“As a 100% affordable housing scheme, The Old Brewery will unlock opportunities for more people to benefit from Bristol’s key attributes, delivering high-quality homes at accessible price points. We’re proud to work with Abri on the next exciting chapter of their development journey in Bristol.”
Michelle Hyde, Head of Land & Planning at Abri added: “The Old Brewery forms part of our mission to revitalise many areas in Bristol, helping build communities and address the shortage of affordable homes. We’re looking forward to working closely with Rund to provide more people with a safe, secure and high-quality home within an area that has strong job prospects, excellent educational establishments and a thriving cultural hub.”
