With International Women’s Day (IWD) taking place tomorrow, we wanted to highlight the incredible women in our company. An annual day of activism, IWD aims to raise awareness of gender inequality and empower women across the globe. This year, the theme chosen is Accelerate Action. Data from the World Economic Forum shows that it will take 133 years to reach full gender parity at the current rate of progress, which is why this year’s theme is all about hastening change.
Accelerate Action is significant for Rund due to our dedicated efforts throughout last year to bring gender parity to the company, including becoming corporate members of Women in Social Housing and setting up our internal Women in Rund working group, both of which you can read more about here.
Below, a selection of the women across Rund’s offices have shared the stories of their careers so far. Read on to explore our company through their words.
London
Jo, Senior Surveyor
I have thoroughly enjoyed working in the construction industry for the past 10 years, progressing in my career and recently passing my APC with RICS. Throughout this time, I have worked with incredible women across various projects and I support the drive to increase the number of women who work in the industry. Rund has supported me throughout my career and I love being involved in encouraging new talent into the business.
Nicole, Surveyor
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Rund since joining in September 2024. I have felt very welcomed and supported. I have particularly enjoyed the variety of projects I have had the opportunity to work on, which have allowed me to develop my skills and experience in a dynamic environment. Rund’s Women’s Networking Group also provides a fantastic platform for open discussions—whether about project challenges or broader topics—fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace. It’s great to be part of a company that values diversity and empowers women in the industry.

Yolanda, Senior Surveyor
I joined Rund in October 2013 as Apprentice Administrator, progressing into my current role as Senior Surveyor with the company’s support. During this time, I also completed a degree with The University College of Estate Management (UCEM), which further elevated my knowledge. I’m now excited to work towards Associate status as I continue my professional development. Throughout my career journey, Rund has provided invaluable support and guidance to help me achieve my goals, including funding training to encourage my progress.
Chloe, Aftercare Administrator
I joined Rund in 2018 in an Administration role, which taught me a lot of new skills including problem-solving, interpersonal communication, and attention to detail. A couple of years later, I moved to Aftercare, consolidating my skill set and enabling me to develop further. Since joining the Aftercare team, my confidence has grown significantly. Working within an incredibly supportive team has encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone and take on new challenges. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Rund, having been at the company for nearly 7 years, which I feel is a testament to how great a company it is to work for.
Sarah, Compliance Manager
When I came to Rund nearly 4 years ago, I wasn’t initially engaged to work in compliance, however, when the opportunity arose to use my previous experience in health and safety, I was thrilled to accept the role. Since then, peer support and encouragement have given me more impetus to grow professionally and I was thrilled to be recognised and celebrated for my input and passion for the business, being promoted to Compliance Manager. Strong relationships are so important to feeling included and valued and Rund excels at this. Collaboration is key, but it’s the diversity of the people at our core that makes Rund such a special place.
I’m so proud to be part of Rund’s annual Graduate Day, as we welcome fresh talent into the sector. My participation with young people undertaking work experience also gives me an opportunity to share what compliance means to Rund and the construction industry. Planning for action and change is crucial and I can genuinely say that Rund provides opportunities for all to play an equal part in the success and growth of the company. #OneRund is our motto and it really is true!
Lizzie, Surveyor
As a woman in the construction industry, I feel privileged to be able to support others following similar paths to me. I hope to encourage and inspire others to achieve their goals without the stigma of being in a male-dominated industry.
I am proud to be a part of the Rund team, who have supported me through my apprenticeship, University degree, and now APC. I am involved in the graduate scheme, whereby I contribute to the selection of candidates to join Rund as graduates and work with them throughout their development at Rund.
The female workforce at Rund is increasing, which is a reflection of Rund’s values. Our People are a key part of Rund’s services. We are a diverse and collaborative team with varying levels of knowledge, skills, and experience. Everyone is treated equally which I believe is why more women are joining us.
With the support of the team around me, I have grown to be more resilient, confident, and well-rounded, which is important in a professional and inclusive environment.
Hilary, Office Manager & PA to Executive Board
Initially, I joined Rund as a temp in 1987. The company was just beginning, making me the third member of the team. Once made a permanent employee, I worked in a variety of roles, from secretarial/administration work, bookkeeping, HR duties, to Office Manager and PA to the Executive Board. I very much enjoy working at Rund and I’m proud to have been able to watch the growth of both the company and the staff within - myself included, as my confidence has certainly grown.
I believe I am a valuable member of Rund and a go-to for a lot of staff due to my knowledge of the company. The atmosphere within the offices is very friendly and creates a great environment to work in.

Akvile, Surveyor
As we approach International Women’s Day, I reflect on my journey at the company, which has been shaped by my diverse background and the unique opportunities this industry offers. While women remain a minority in this field, I’ve found that my strong character and diverse skill set have enabled me to thrive in a dynamic environment. In just one year, I’ve contributed to over 10 exciting construction schemes, each bringing new challenges and learnings. The collaborative spirit of my colleagues, always willing to offer advice and support, has been invaluable.
Beyond my core responsibilities, I've had the privilege of attending networking events, taking part in a student bootcamp, and organising charity initiatives like the Christmas Shoebox appeal, demonstrating the value we place on community. Additionally, I’ve completed a first aid course, which not only enhances my professional skills but also contributes to my ability to support my team in any situation. The variety of work, along with the opportunity to connect with colleagues across offices and learn continuously, makes each day rewarding. I'm grateful to be part of a team that values both professional growth and social impact.
Morgan, Administrator
Through my role at Rund, my identity has broadened beyond being a mother. I’m grateful for the opportunity to create bonds with people I wouldn’t in my day-to-day life. This time two years ago, I was simply needing to earn money to support living costs, while career goals were a maybe. However, now I have a goal of what and where I want to be. I’m part of a strong team and it feels good to be an important cog in a big wheel.
Bristol
Isabella, Senior Surveyor
I joined Rund recently, having worked in construction for the majority of my twenties. I’ve been glad to witness times changing - it’s no longer a rarity to see women in construction.
I strive to continue representing women in male-dominated environments, demonstrating that we have every right to be here.
For instance, one day I was walking to site in my PPE when I passed a group of schoolchildren looking like they were on a trip somewhere. I hope that by simply walking to a site I showed the girls that they can pursue a career in any field they want, regardless of whether it’s deemed ‘not for girls’. I am proud to be part of the change, inspiring the next generation of women to break barriers and follow their dreams with confidence and determination.
Emma, Graduate Surveyor
I began my career in construction with Rund in September 2024, and have had valuable experience working within many of the roles and services. I am so happy to see brilliant women working in all areas of the business and the industry as a whole. I’m excited to progress within my career and meet many more incredible people!
In 2025, we look forward to sharing more of our efforts towards achieving gender parity. While the construction industry can be a tough place for women, times are changing, and we're dedicated to being at the forefront of that transition, Building Stronger Futures for all.
