Today marks the beginning of Mental Health Awareness Week (9th – 15th May), and this year’s theme is Loneliness – an issue which commonly affects nearly half of our population.[1]
We believe socialisation forms a vital part of mental health and wellbeing at work. We have various initiatives in place to encourage colleagues to engage with one another on a personal level, helping create a positive work environment.
Sarah Culley, Assistant Surveyor: “Social interaction with colleagues is important at Rund as it helps grow and strengthen relationships within our expanding teams, enabling everyone to get to know one another and take a break from busy workloads.”
Our office break-out areas, nearby parks, and green spaces provide the perfect setting for employees to engage with others in a more relaxed and informal setting, away from their desks.
Asmanthula Samankehl, Assistant Quantity Surveyor: “While we are in different parts of the country, we have lots of opportunities to put faces to names and get to know each other.”
As ‘One Rund’, we all work with the same values and goals in mind. We believe it is important connect employees across offices. There are many opportunities to get to know one another – from participating in training webinars and organising virtual coffee meetups, to attending social events and our annual team Away Day.
Alex Tiernan-Locke, Surveyor: “I know I can go to any member of the team with a query and receive help, as everyone is so approachable and open to communication.”
Many of our employees cite the supportiveness of their colleagues as a key reason for their progression within the company. Knowledge and skills sharing among the team is vital for personal and professional development.
Joanna Rothery, Senior Surveyor: “Everyone has different interests, so it is important for us to switch up social activities – from 5k runs and boat races to life size Monopoly and escape rooms.”
We host regular social gatherings at Rund to allow everyone important facetime with their colleagues, and always welcome suggestions for different activities.
Our People are one of our core values. We believe every employee deserves to be looked after and has opportunities to improve their mental health and wellbeing. Creating a positive, comfortable work environment is key to inspiring Collaboration at Rund.
