On Monday 22nd June, Rund was pleased to join Abri, The Hill Group, Homes England and councillors from the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead to celebrate the topping out of the first building at The Granges in Dedworth, Windsor.
The milestone marks the first building reaching its highest point on Abri’s largest ever regeneration project, formerly known as Sawyer’s Close. Once complete, The Granges will provide 413 high-quality, sustainable affordable homes for existing residents and the local community.
The six-storey block includes 41 one and two-bedroom flats, which, together with the other 20 homes being delivered in the first phase, are expected to be ready in early 2027. A second phase of 121 homes is also well underway and due to complete by early 2028.
We have supported Abri on the scheme since 2021, providing Project Management, Quantity Surveyor and Principal Designer services. In 2024, our role expanded to include Clerk of Works services, strengthening quality oversight as the project moved into delivery.
As a multidisciplinary consultant on the project, we are helping Abri manage cost, risk, quality and stakeholder requirements across this complex occupied-site regeneration. Our work has included robust cost advice, risk management, value engineering input, stakeholder coordination and quality monitoring to support the successful progression of the scheme.
The topping out milestone reflects strong progress on a flagship regeneration that will replace 192 existing homes with 413 new affordable homes, supported by improved landscaping, open space and community facilities. The project is designed to create a high-quality, sustainable and inclusive neighbourhood, with residents and the wider community at the heart of the regeneration process.
We will continue to support Abri as The Granges progresses through the next stages of delivery, helping bring forward much-needed affordable homes for the Dedworth community.
