We were pleased to support the London Region of WISH recently as they held a networking event which explored the politics of housing with speakers from three political candidates ahead of the London local elections.
Hosted by One Housing Group at the historic Arlington Centre in Camden, we provided sponsorship for the evening along with Henry Construction. Over 65 women attended from all corners of the housing sector including, housing associations, commercial developers, architects, consultants and contractors.
The panel included: Councillors Nicola Dykes (Conservative), Sem Moema (Labour), and Liberal Democrat candidate, Carl Quilliam. Delegates heard how housing providers can work closer with local politicians to build the homes the capital desperately needs.
With the housing crisis in London a key local election issue, and with the lack of available land for housing, it’s clear that the housing industry can do a lot more to engage with local politicians and councils to help tackle the housing crisis. WISH London was rightly very proud of the event and extended their thanks to Rund for helping to make it such a success.
Paul Belfield, Director at Rund said “It was a great event and gave us all the unique opportunity to hear advice from political candidates who have the power to make or break new homes in planning committees. We are already corporate members of WISH and admire the work they are doing to address the lack of diversity in the housing and construction sectors and hope to be involved again with future events”
