Rund has been appointed to support Grainger on a significant Build to Rent (BTR) scheme in Cardiff, acting as Quantity Surveyor.
Rund’s team is providing a full Quantity Surveying service from RIBA 1 through to RIBA Stage 6, with services running to October 2028. Committed to being the leading consultant within the BTR sector, Rund works closely with clients at all stages, from feasibility through to completion. The proposed scheme by Grainger is a BTR-led scheme on John Street in Cardiff providing around 400 new apartments, with ancillary uses on the ground floor of the proposed part 26/part 18 storey development.
The proposed development on John Street, Cardiff will deliver a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, in addition to the refurbishment of the railway arches to bring these spaces back into meaningful use for the local community.
Stuart Binnie, Associate Director at Rund said “This is an exciting partnership with Grainger, who are committed to providing high quality Build to Rent schemes in major cities across the UK. This new appointment builds upon our strong relationship with Grainger and is our first full Quantity Surveying appointment with them.”
A key differentiator for Grainger is their national footprint. With a targeted investment strategy that identifies locations with the highest demand and strongest potential, Grainger is dedicated to enhancing communities by delivering high-standard living environments and contributing to local regeneration projects.
John Street is part of a key regeneration area in the city, located near the central business district. The area has been subject to significant redevelopment projects in recent years, contributing to the city's modern commercial and residential landscape. John Street is close to major transport links like Cardiff Central station, making it a strategic location for mixed-use developments that typically include office spaces, residential units, and retail facilities.
Ben Worby, Associate at Rund commented on the scheme “This is another fantastic development by Grainger, and we are proud to support them as they expand their UK portfolio. Our appointment underscores Rund’s expertise and the trust Grainger places in us. We are well placed to apply our extensive Build to Rent industry experience and quantity surveying skills to help ensure the ongoing success of this project.”
