Rund boosts employee engagement with ‘Dragons’ Den’-style challenge

Rund has been inspiring and engaging employees through the launch of a ‘Dragons’ Den’-style challenge, where all team members were invited to put forward business improvement ideas.

With the aim of demonstrating the value of individual opinions within the company, the Directors asked our circa-80 strong team to share ideas on how Rund could improve three key areas – efficiency, profitability, and income stream – with the opportunity for ideas to be progressed in the coming months.

Beginning as informal contributions via email, each idea was reviewed by the Directors and a shortlist developed. Each employee on the shortlist was invited to give a one-hour presentation to Managing Director Richard Mussell and Directors Paul Belfield and Paul Deakin to expand on their ideas.

Chartered Building Surveyor James Perry was awarded first prize for his idea around expanding our building consultancy services, with runners up including Will Ashton and Oliver Kenny, who suggested ideas for sector diversification. Toby Fazan and James Phillipson were also praised for their ideas around improving business efficiencies and the delivery of our services.

All five proposals will be developed further over the coming months and Directors have asked each presenter to explore their ideas with the wider team.

James Perry, Chartered Building Surveyor at Rund commented: “The Dragons’ Den challenge was a really creative way to involve all employees in helping the company evolve, and I appreciated having the opportunity to put forward my own ideas to be taken into serious consideration. Having only started my role at Rund a few months ago, I was delighted to win and I’m very much looking forward to seeing all our ideas come to fruition.”

Richard Mussell, Managing Director at Rund added: “We were incredibly impressed by all the ideas contributed – it’s clear we have a strong team of forward-thinking individuals who care passionately about what they do. At Rund, we value the opinions of all our employees and want to encourage them to continue putting forward ideas, as they are at the forefront of helping us grow as a business.”
