Supporting Bow Foodbank in east London

On Thursday 15th October, colleagues from Rund spent time volunteering at Bow Foodbank in east London. The visit forms part of our social value commitments to Clarion Housing on schemes in the local area.

Bow Foodbank is a local Tower Hamlets charity that has operated in Bow and Bethnal Green for 12 years. It provides emergency food support to people in crisis due to financial difficulties.

The team sorted and repacked boxes of bananas in varying condition, so that as little as possible went to waste. They also moved cupboard items into secure storage, helped visitors collect their food parcels, and supported the Foodbank team in getting the centre ready for distribution.

Supporting the communities where we work matters to Rund, and it was great to see first-hand the difference the foodbank makes locally.

Will Taylor, Associate Director at Rund, said: "It was a hands-on experience that gave us a real insight into the work foodbanks do every day. We're proud to have been able to contribute and look forward to supporting them again in the future."

Volunteering with local organisations is one way we deliver on our social value commitments. We thank the team at Bow Foodbank for welcoming us.
