Clarion Housing Group has commissioned Rund’s Cost Consultancy services for the replacement of Clare House, a tower block providing affordable housing in the heart of Tower Hamlets.
Project Background

The scheme will provide 100% social rent homes, 51% of which will be larger 3- and 4-bedroom dwellings, as part of a drive to create a flourishing, family-friendly community. The new building stands on the spot of a demolished tower, whose former residents were rehoused due to structural and fire safety issues. As such, Clare House will welcome back the previous tenants to a transformed site, complete with a community centre, play facilities, and garden. There will be an all-electric energy system powered by communal air source heat pumps and PV panels on roofs. Further, Clare House will benefit from new native trees, hedges, as well as green roofs and seasonal planting to promote biodiversity. The Solution

Rund’s specialist team is managing and advising on the cost of the project. This involves ensuring that the progressing designs align with the budget agreed with Clarion, allowing our experts to create a cost plan for Clare House.

Rund’s cost consultants are taking an active role in the project by engaging with design and project consultants to understand, guide, and challenge emerging designs, then recommending options for optimisation. Deliverables include providing cost and benchmarking comparisons for similar schemes, and visiting the site to carry out an initial appraisal, having studied all available data, information, and reports relating to the project and the works.
