The redevelopment of the former Ovalhouse Theatre into a new hotel, situated adjacent to the Kia Oval Cricket Ground, is nearing completion. Rund is engaged as the Clerk of Works on this first-of-a-kind project for Surrey County Cricket Club.
Project Background

Surrey County Cricket Club purchased the site in 2020, with the purchase being the first time the club had invested in land outside the boundaries of The Oval. The existing theatre building has been demolished, with works on site progressing well to complete the 95-bedroom, six-storey hotel. Once open, the hotel will provide accommodation for cricket fans and conference guests visiting the world-famous Kia Oval Cricket Ground. A bar and restaurant are also being developed, with associated landscaping works taking place.

The Solution

As Clerk of Works, we are conducting robust weekly inspections to assess and monitor the quality of works on site. Our expert team has reviewed all materials, drawings, and the specification, as well as operating procedures on site to ensure all adhere to strict quality standards. We are also compiling detailed reports and attending meetings to update all parties on progress.

Conversion projects of this nature require a significant level of attention to detail from start to finish, with the assurance that all works are being delivered with exceptional quality at front of mind.

Our experienced Clerk of Works team is going above and beyond to ensure no stone goes unturned and every element of work is closely examined, offering trusted, knowledgeable advice to our client. We thoroughly enjoy providing our expertise on this project, helping develop a new, vibrant hospitality venue in Lambeth.
