Rund is appointed as Employer’s Agent and Clerk of Works by Vivid Homes on Merton Rise – a £41 million new build residential development in Basingstoke.
Project Background
The five-year, six-phase project involves the creation of 313 homes, comprising 169 social rent and 117 shared ownership units. The development is set to offer a mix of one and two bedroom apartments, as well as two, three and four bedroom houses with additional car parking.
The site includes a variety of building frame structures, including timber frame, steel frame and traditional build. Our Clerk of Works service is ensuring each individual frame undergoes thorough inspection, as we work closely with the developer, Persimmon Homes to help meet consistent high-quality standards across every unit.
The Merton Rise project is also benefitting from our in-house fire stopping expertise, providing intricate inspections as part of our added value Clerk of Works service.
The Solution
Our Employer’s Agent service has involved reviewing the specification and drawings at pre-construction stage, identifying potential improvements in design and specification to ensure compliance with strict requirements. Our consistent communication between Vivid Homes and Persimmon is helping assure both parties that the project is on track to successful delivery.
The project works were procured on the basis of a Development Agreement with Persimmon Homes, so our experienced in-house Chartered Quantity Surveyors assisted in assessing this agreement to ensure all objectives were aligned and value for money will be achieved overall.
