Rund is working with Riverside on Westwood Cross, a major infrastructure-led residential development in Kent.
Project Background

Westwood Cross will deliver 449 homes across two phases, on a site adjacent to the existing Westwood Cross shopping centre.

The first phase is now underway. Early infrastructure works include the installation of roads, services, and utilities required to unlock the wider site and prepare for the next development phase.

The scheme is being brought forward through a joint development structure between Riverside and Rooksmead Residential. Westwood Cross requires clear leadership, strong commercial control, and careful coordination due to its long project history, neighbouring land interests, and the many statutory approvals necessary.

The project also involves important technical interfaces; including highways works, service diversions, utility connections, and third-party agreements.

The Solution

Rund was appointed by Riverside to provide Employer’s Agent, Quantity Surveyor, and CDM-PD services.

Our team joined the project at a critical stage, supporting greater alignment, pace, and coordination for a scheme with a number of key risks. Early priorities included reviewing the project position, supporting contractor procurement, advising on cost and tender matters and setting out a clear route through the next phase of works.

As Employer’s Agent, Rund is coordinating with the client, contractor, consultants, statutory bodies, and wider stakeholders. Our role includes programme management, contract administration, stakeholder coordination and practical support throughout the technical approvals process.

The Quantity Surveying aspect of Rund’s role is to provide commercial oversight, cost reporting, and advice to help Riverside manage risk and maintain financial control.

The appointment draws on Rund’s experience in large-scale residential schemes, infrastructure-led development, and joint venture environments. On projects of this nature, early visibility of key risks, firm governance, and clear communication are vital.

Project Impact

Rund’s involvement has helped Riverside achieve improved clarity, pace, and oversight at an important point in the programme.

The team has progressed key workstreams, supported procurement and commercial decisions, and established a clearer path through programme, technical approvals and stakeholder coordination.

As the scheme moves forward, Rund continues to provide project management expertise, commercial assurance and practical advice to support delivery.

Once complete, Westwood Cross will deliver 449 new affordable homes in Kent, supported by the roads, services, and utilities needed to unlock the wider site and provide a strong foundation for future phases.
